Jose Rizal
Referred to as the face of the Philippines, Jose Rizal. His name is etched on currency, monuments, and the very fabric of Filipino identity. Jose Rizal made numerous contributions that profoundly impacted Philippine civilization.
He was primarily known for his literary prowess, which was best displayed by the books "Noli Me Tangere" and "El Filibusterismo," which revealed the societal injustices that had occurred during Spanish rule and inspired a collective Filipino identity. These works of literature were a wake-up call for the country. Inspiring resistance and establishing the foundation for the nation's quest for independence were two of Rizal's literary contributions. Apart from his influence on literature, Rizal espoused the need of education as a crucial driver of social change. Realizing the importance of knowledge, he pushed for changes in education to give Filipinos more freedom and to break the chains of ignorance. Rizal established a legacy that is still relevant in the Philippines today by arguing that an informed populace was necessary to promote growth and resilience.
However, Rizal's greatest contribution was not only pointing out the darkness but also showing the way to a better future. He serves as a reminder that the ultimate sources of strength are not force but rather the unwavering belief in one's own potential and the unwavering pursuit of justice. He is proof of the eternal force of concepts and words, which have the ability to incite revolutions and influence the path of history.

The Filipino nationalist movement adopted his emphasis on nonviolent resistance as a guiding principle, which impacted other leaders in their quest for independence.
